PL · UTM Link Builder i What is a UTM link?
A normal URL with tags on the end that tell analytics where a visitor came from. Nothing is registered anywhere — the tags are read the moment someone clicks and lands on the site. Works on any site that has an analytics tag.

Format: ?utm_source=…&utm_medium=…&utm_campaign=…

Build UTM-tagged campaign links for any Protocol Labs site — drop a link, pick channels, copy tagged URLs & QR codes. Hover the ⓘ icons for help.

1

Paste the page URL iThe page you're linking to (any PL domain). Any ?params already on the link are stripped automatically before tagging.

Works with any PL domain — or start from one of these:
2

Name the campaign

One post → the post slug. A series → the series name (reuse across parts).
Series part, variant, or placement. Leave blank if not needed.
3

Pick channels iEach channel sets two tags:
utm_source = the exact place (twitter)
utm_medium = the bucket it belongs to (social, email, referral, offline)

GA4 groups traffic by medium — a wrong medium lands in “Unassigned”. Twitter, LinkedIn & Telegram are different sources but all medium social.

Presentation / Slides uses offline (for QR on decks/print).

Other: iAdd any source not listed (e.g. discord, whatsapp, a partner domain), then pick its medium bucket: social (any social post), email (newsletter), referral (partner site), offline (QR on slides/print). Type a source and it's added below.
4

Grab your links

Complete steps 1–3 to generate links.
5

See your results in Google Analytics iYour tagged links flow into GA4. Standard reports can take 24–48h to fill in; Realtime is instant. Compare channels for one push via Session campaign.

Once your links are out in the world, this is where the payoff shows up — who clicked, from which channel. The button opens the Traffic acquisition report for the PL R&D property; set the dimension to Session campaign to compare channels. (For another site, switch property inside GA.)
